Craniopathy
What is Craniopathy?
Craniopathy is the study of the skull and the restoration of proper function. Eighty percent of the central nervous system (CNS) is encased in the cranium while only 20% is in the spine. The skull itself is intended to be a pumping mechanism for the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF), which provides nutrients and removes metabolic waste to and from all areas of the brain. Some people ask if it is similar to craniosacral therapy. Craniopathy is different than craniosacral therapy. Although craniopaths do work with the dural system (protective layer surrounding the spinal cord and brain) we don’t stop there. Craniopathy is a much more in depth study with a strong focus on all the individual bones of the skull, how they move with respiration, the anatomy of the brain, flow of the CSF and the route and function of the cranial nerves.
